Drew Brees – Making Saints Tickets Worthwhile

Drew Brees is unarguably the linchpin of the New Orleans Saints offense. Arriving as a free agent in 2007, Brees left the San Diego Chargers under somewhat of a cloud, having suffered a major injury and facing an uncertain future. Luckily for Saints fans, everything has worked out. Passing for almost 14,000 yards in his Saints career, Drew Brees is arguably the best quarterback New Orleans has ever fielded, with all due respect to Archie Manning.

The scary this is that Brees may not have reached his potential. The paradox here is that if the movement of Pierre Thomas into a major role in the Saints running game pans out, the numbers Brees puts out could drop while the fortunes of the team rise. Less reliance on the passing game might be a good thing. Even scarier is the thought that an injury to Drew Brees means the Saints rely on Mark Brunell and Joey (Oh My God!) Harrington. I don’t think it’s unfair to specualte that losing Drew Brees could spell the end of the saints playoff chances. He’s the glue that binds a very effective offense together.
