This Lions vs Saints contest should be a laugher. I say should be, judging by by the saints pre-season whipping of the Lions AFC Weak Sister, the Raiders. But it will give us a better picture of what the New Orleans Saints can bring to bear on an opposing team. Which raises the question: Will the Saints use everything in their arsenal against the Lions? I doubt it. I think Sean Payton will be able to use the Lions as an extra pre-season game to sharpen his squad.
But I digress. I’m thinking this Lions – Saints matchup will be the debut of Matthew Stafford. Call me crazy but I think Detroit is eager to get this kid on the field, even if it means taking some lumps along the way. Duante Culpepper hasn’t done a lot to distinguish himself or make it easy for the Lions to pick him as starter. All things being even, the kid with the big contract will start against the Saints.
We’ve got one more game to see how things pan out. But if you’re interested in seeing a #1 Draft choice in his first NFL start, Lions vs Saints tickets on Sept 13th are a pretty good bet in my mind.
