Upset about the Saints defense?

Don't cry about the New Orleans Saints defense just yet.

The New Orleans Saints spent the offseason building expectations for a new defense that would finally end the vicous cycle of being victimized by big plays. So far in the Saints pre-season it’s worked in two games out of three. The Saints starting defense pretty much throttled both the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots. When it came time for the pre-season home opener with the Jacksonville Jaguars however, things got a little shaky.
Under Blaine Gabbert the Jaguars pretty much had their way with the Steve Spagnuolo defense in the first half. Tackling was weak and the run defense left a lot to be desired. The question as always is: Which defense will show up against our next opponent, which happens to the Houston Texans.
Honestly, I believe this Texans vs Saints game will give us a much clearer picture as to where this Saints defense will stand. Overall, the Talent on the Texans offense is much better than that of the Jaguars. Matt Schaub is a proven NFL commodity and should challenge the Saints passing defense with Andre Johnson. On the ground the Texans field one of the better duos in the NFL with Ben Tate and Adrian Foster. This is a good opportunity to see who can start in the NFL and who’s on their way out. The tuneup game against Tennessee ends the pre-season for New Orleans and by that time Spagnuolo will have to have his squad tuned and ready to go for the home opener against the Washington Redskins.
