I have never been fond of Michael Vick, especially when he was pitted against my New Orleans Saints. Many’s the time he made me want to rip my Saints tickets in frustration. On the football fields of the NFl Michael Vick did some amazing dodging and weaving. But he hasn’t been able to dodge and weave the relentless attention paid to him since his conviction.
Now Vick is trying to return to the NFL but faces some big challenges. First is getting Goodel to allow him back in the league. The second is finding a team that will sign him and withstand the barrage of bad publicity and demonstrations sure to follow. In his defense I ask: Where was the massive national protest when Leon Little returned to the NFL? Will there be a huge uprising of sentiment when Dante Stallworth once again puts on a uniform? I think not? We have lost all perspective when the loss of a human life garners less interest than the loss of an animal that in many countries gets served up for dinner.
